Hooker boots and a bathing suit.
Image is running a contest for a writers to create a female superhero. As an added incentive, if you win, your hero will get to beat up Bomb Queen! So that's fun.

I wonder how much actual female response they'll get from it. One suspects not all that much.

Wow, it's... kinda tempting, really. If only as a creative challenge.

Yeah, and you do get paid. I don't think I'll do it, though. Don't want to get typecast.

Finally, a chance to fulfill my lifelong dream of working for Image.

Somehow I am having a hard time working up the enthusiasm to create a believable, nuanced superheroine who is going to be drawn like this.

I never, ever thought I'd get up here to defend Image, but they have become one of the more interesting publishing houses in mainstream comics. It's totally bizarre how that's worked, but it has. It's like they've taken cues from Oni to try to be the cool indie company for mainstream sensibilities, and have become a far cry from their McFarlane/Liefeld roots. Not saying everything they're doing is good, but it's at least unusual and interesting (WALKING DEAD, FEAR AGENT, PHONOGRAM, among others).

Even BOMB QUEEN, to which this proposed book is going to be a counterpart, is a decidedly different (and indeed, perhaps subersive) take on superhero/T&A books.

Frankly, I have an idea or two of my own, and Image is the best possible company I can imagine publishing them. A few years ago, I'd never have believed I'd say that.
